Dakota is a student at D’Evelyn Junior / Senior High School who likes spending time outdoors, likes skiing, and has a passion for competitive ballroom dancing. Diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), she is undergoing treatment at Children’s Hospital in Aurora, Colorado. Dakota joined Topplers’ Making A Difference programs, because as she says,
I have never been the kind of person to just sit back and watch. When I see something that is wrong or unfair, I always want to jump in and help. With my disease, I can’t really just jump in and fix myself, so with this program, I am going to do whatever it takes to help others.
Dakota wants to see random acts of kindness spread in the world:
I want people to simply do random acts of kindness. I think that the best way to make the world a better place is to give people the freedom to do nice things for others, whether it be paying for the next person in line’s coffee, or giving a homeless person some change. I hope that everyone who participates in this program with me will continue to live life to its fullest with the most kindness and respect for others as possible. I also hope that they see life in a new light from then on out.
